Last week in Brussels

I spent the last week in Brussels with Maťka and Elisa at my brothers place. My week mostly consisted of spending time with Elisa, trying to do some work (as her attention span allowed) and catching up with my brother Tomas and some local friends. While Brussels is not the most exciting city in the world, I did feel a certain level of respect for the many human cogs living there trying to make the EU machine work. It’s slow and expensive, but I still believe the things that come out are pretty good.

We also joined the Slovak community for a protest rally on Friday 4th of May, calling for new elections in Slovakia. While the group that came together  was small, I was encouraged by the fact that they bothered at all. Their life doesn’t seem to be impacted by what is going on back home for now and they still felt strongly about it. Where ever you are – use every opportunity to fight for what is important to you.
